Exchange rates
The price of one currency in terms of another—determining how affordable imports and exports are on world markets.
A stronger domestic currency tends to cheapen foreign goods and toughen competition for exporters; a weaker currency does the opposite. Rates can float with markets or be managed by authorities.
Trade data context
State trade totals are recorded in dollars and reflect global conditions—including exchange-rate swings—even when producers never leave home.
That is why exchange rates appear in the same state_trade_metrics concept cluster as globalization, balances, capital flows, and growth in the project content plan.
